Vivitrol Alcohol Injections
Arrowhead Behavioral Healthoffers a state-of-the art treatment program for those suffering from alcoholism. In conjunction with psychotherapy, Vivitrol, an injectable form of Naltraxone, assists in reducing a patient’s desire for alcohol. Each injection lasts 30 days on timed release and allows patients to focus on treatment of the mind versus the body, reducing the chance of relapse. Vivitrol is a safe, proven medication that nearly eliminates withdrawal symptoms and cravings, greatly improving treatment success.
Arrowhead Behavioral Health’sstructured program is built to ensure that patients are placed in situations in which they will have the best tools to succeed in recovery. Here are some of the key aspects of the program:
- Vivitrol injections are given on an Inpatient basis. Length of stay for patients can vary from 3-7 days, depending on the severity of each individual’s disease state. Patients must be free of any alcohol or opiates for 48 hours prior to induction.
- While a patient is in the hospital, they will receive important 12-step and mental health programming.
- Following Discharge from the program, patients will be required to attend an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and three outside meetings (Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), or Cocaine Anonymous (CA).
- Injections are given on a monthly basis. At the time of the injection, patients will also meet with the physician and attend a group.
- First dose of Vivitrol is free for certain insurance carriers. Patient assistance is offered through Alkermies, producers of Vivitrol. Arrowhead Behavioral Health will assist patients in applying for these programs.
